One more Summer comes to a close but not the events at the Kent Rod & Gun Club!



Friday, September 5th-GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING


Saturday, September 6th-FAMILY CAMP-OUT-All Ranges will close at 4 p.m.
Tent set-up late in the afternoon.  The grill will be ready to cook burgers & dogs, please bring along whatever food items you'd like to add to the menu...salads, desserts...more than welcome!
Please note that if weather takes a nasty turn, there will not be a postponement of this event.

Sunday, September 14th-3D ARCHERY SHOOT-Ranges closed all day.
Registration: 9-10 a.m.-Sharp!  Fee: $12.00 per person  Refreshments/Lunch available for purchase.  Prizes:  Category winners will receive a Flying Arrow Sports gift card and there will be a 50/50 Raffle.

Members and Guests welcome!  Shoot winners will go home with a hefty frozen turkey!   Admission: $20.00...includes 1 Raffle Ticket for a $150.00 CASH Prize...plus...Light Breakfast, Lunch and 1 free round of shooting!
                           Additional Rounds-$3.00, Additional Raffles-$5.00
Slug Guns and Muzzleloaders...bring your own Sabots if you wish but...NO RIM FIRE!

2014 Hunter Safety Courses

The Kent Rod & Gun Club will hold Sportsmen's Education Courses during September.  Please note the following dates:
      

Bowhunter:     Saturday, September 13th - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Gunhunter:     (Must attend both of these sessions)

                         Thursday, September 25th - 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

                         Saturday, September 27th -  8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

ALL registrations for both the Bow Hunter and Gun Hunter Courses MUST be done at the NYSDEC website.  Here are the direct links for course registration:

There are no fees for these courses.  During all sessions, our club will have coffee, soft drinks, snacks and food items for sale.

Club Update

Summer is more than half-way over but the events at our club keep rolling along!


Our recent Summer Clean-up at the club was a huge success with the completion of new deck stairs and a much-needed re-organization of our clubhouse basement.  Those members who went above and beyond to lend a hand as well as those who can always be counted on to assist at club events cannot be thanked enough.


On the calendar:

• General Membership Meeting - Friday, August 1st at 8 p.m.

• Our Family BBQ - August 2nd at 1 p.m.  RANGES CLOSED ALL DAY.   This promises to be one more fun event at the Kent Rod & Gun Club.  Reservations are now closed and there will be no walk-ins the day of the event.   If you missed the deadline, just remember we will be doing it again...next year! 

• NRA Pistol Safety Course - Sunday, August 17th. RANGES WILL BE CLOSED FROM 12 TO 3 P.M. Contact John Sparano to register...club members and immediate family pay a discounted course fee of $25.00. For everyone else, the fee is $95.00 for our 8 hour course, complete with range time. Remember, this is a necessary course for first-time pistol license holders as well as those needing to do an upgrade on an existing license. 

• Family Camp-out - Saturday, September 6th.  RANGES WILL CLOSE AT 4 P.M. One of our most popular club events and a fun time for kids and adults.  Tent set-up will be late in the afternoon, the grill will be fired-up to cook whatever campers bring along.  Desserts and side-dishes will be more than welcome!

                                                     

Club Update!

• General Membership Meeting - Friday, September 6th at 8 p.m.

• Annual Family Camp-out (WEATHER PERMITTING!) - Saturday, September 7th.

Tent set-up will be late Saturday afternoon.  Everyone is asked to bring along something for the food and dessert table.  The club grill will be lit for Burgers, Hot Dogs and any other tasty item that you would like to bring along. 
Please note that, with other events on the club's schedule, if the weather turns extremely sour for this event, it will be cancelled..period.  Rain won't be an issue, for everyone can take shelter under our Pavilion,  but should a major storm hit with potential wind damage, we don't want to put anyone in harm's way.  Everyone will be kept advised, so please watch your e-mails!

• Ladies Day at the Range - Sunday, September 15th

Please note that club ranges will be CLOSED on this date as we feature this community outreach sporting event designed just for the ladies.  Registration closed several weeks back and reminders will be sent out to all the girls who signed-up for this fun day at the KR&G.

• Bow Hunter Safety Course - Saturday, September 28th

• Gun Hunter Course (TWO DATES-MUST ATTEND BOTH!)-Thursday, October 10th, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday, October 12th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• And...it's not too early to think TURKEY!  Our Annual Turkey Shoot is scheduled for Sunday, October 6th at 10:00 a.m.  Always a well-attended event at our club as shooters compete for a frozen turkey and a healthy cash prize of $150.00...and, most important...Bragging Rights!   Members and Guests are welcome. Upcoming Club Events:

Pistol Safety Course - Sunday, August 18th at 8 a.m.  Course fee is $95.00.  This is an intensive, 8 hour course of instruction for first-time pistol license applicants as well as for those needing to do an upgrade to an existing license.  Our club offers refreshments and lunch items for sale during these courses.  Pass this along to anyone who might be interested...seating fills up fast!  Contact John Sparano here at....kentrodandgunclub@gmail.com

Family Camp-out, Saturday, September 7th (Weather Permitting)- Tent set-up on club grounds, late afternoon.  Year after year, we don't know who has more fun at this event, the kids or the adults!   Bring along something for the food table, our grill will be lit and, of course, there will be a roaring bonfire.  

Ladies Day at the Range - Sunday, September 15th at 10:00 a.m.  This will be the first KR&G event of this type, planned for just the girls!   Both the Upper and Lower shooting ranges will be closed on that date...please keep this in mind!

**There will be Hunter Safety Courses coming up but, as yet, we do not have definite dates from Jerry Meenan.  Once we hear, those dates and all necessary registration information will be sent out and posted on our website.
