Summer Clean-up

Sunday, July 29th was a busy and very productive day at the Kent Rod & Gun as several members worked on various projects at our club.

Kevin Whittaker designed and started building a new Shooting Station at our front range a few days ago; a few helping hands brought it closer to being finished.

Kevin made even more progress on July 31st when he finished putting up the walls.

Don Hopko installed some outdoor carpeting down on our back range shooting stations while John Geist and Erik Lawton did some pretty impressive tree-trimming

In addition to all our members who pitched-in for the day, and who will be thanked again at our next meeting (in case anyone has been overlooked), a big shout-out to:

Jim Chenevey...

Rich Armbruster...

Youth Outreach to Shooting Sports - Cancelled!

Our “2012 Youth Outreach to the Shooting Sports” day, which was scheduled for Sunday, July 8th, has been cancelled.

As of the June 23rd registration deadline, we had only 2 young people who had expressed an interest but did not officially register.

The Kent Rod & Gun Club takes great pride in offering youth-based fun, and educational, events at our club, on top of all other functions we host throughout the year.  Some involve just an investment of time and the reward is the terrific personal satisfaction we all gain by seeing the smiles on the faces of the children who attend.

Hopefully, in the future, we can look forward to more participation by our membership, their families and friends, so that events such as this will not have to be cancelled.

Kevin J. McGuinness, President
Kent Rod & Gun Club

2012 Panfish Derby

Everyone who attended had a great time at our Annual Panfish Derby on Sunday, June 24th.

Congresswoman Nan Hayworth stopped-by just in time for the weigh-in and stayed for the official awards ceremony.

Thanks go out to the club members who volunteered their time, and effort, in manning the barbeque grills, doing the weigh-in and helping with clean-up at the end of the day!

Nick Wellington's fish hits the scale!

                                                  Waiting to be weighed!

Panfish Officials log another one in the books!

Top prizes of fishing poles and a tackle box went to three of our young club members, along with a special trophy; everyone who participated went home with a medal and a hefty gift bag full of fishing lures and other goodies.

The best part of the day was seeing all the smiles from the children, future sportsmen...and sportswomen!
