Pistol Safety Course - Sunday, April 30th

Registration is now open for our next Pistol Safety Course on Sunday, April 30th, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Our team of Club Instructors take great pride in offering this extensive, 8-hour course of important instruction, necessary for those applying for their first-time pistol license and for those seeking to do an upgrade to their existing license.

We cannot stress enough that the importance of safe gun handling and the responsibility in being a law-abiding gun owner and user cannot be properly taught in any type of "condensed" 3 or 4 hour method of instruction; an important factor for everyone to keep in mind!

During our courses, our clubhouse kitchen offers coffee and refreshments plus homemade lunch items for sale to accommodate our students.

For more information, and to register, please e-mail our club at:  kentrodandgunclub@gmail.com

Welcome January!

After a controversial, jam-packed of a whirlwind past year, we are all looking forward to much positive change on all levels, especially in the government of our country.

Here at the Kent Rod & Gun Club, we have been fortunate to look back on a productive year where members enjoyed club facilities, especially several social events that were well-attended. We thank all of our members, families and friends, who participated and lent their support...great teamwork!

Our first big event of 2017 is our Officer's Installation Dinner on Saturday, January 28th. Seating will be limited and the reservations have been flowing-in.   Since we've been holding this dinner at our clubhouse, the response has been outstanding!  Gino's Trattoria of Mahopac handles the catering and, as with all club events, there is no shortage of terrific food!  The deadline for ALL reservations is January 21st or...when we have reached maximum seating! Send us an email at....kentrodandgunclub@gmail.com...and get your reservations in now!

We're looking forward to announcing the winners of our Annual Big Buck Contest at our February meeting.  Several of our hunter's signed-up for the competition and we've seen some impressive racks brought in for scoring.

Everyone has been advised on the re-certification process for all pistol licenses by our Putnam County Clerk's Office and it's important that we continue to share this information from that office:

Please be advised that the New York State Police mailed an important notice to all Pistol Permit holders whose permit was issued prior to January 15, 2013.

Please read and follow the instructions regarding this re-certification.  Please keep in mind that, as per the SAFE Act, you MUST re-certify to the New York State Police PRIOR to January 31, 2018.

Please follow the link below to re-certify online; download the hard copy form and access some frequently asked questions.

Again, we wish everyone a Happy, Prosperous, Healthy 2017!!

The Right Choices-Election Day 2016

A reminder that Tuesday, November 8th, is Election Day, 2016 and, as members of The Kent Rod & Gun Club, we all need to exercise our right to VOTE!  As citizens of the United States of America, we must exercise that right to VOTE!

There has never been a more critical time to protect our 2nd Amendment Right to "keep and bear arms" than NOW!

The reality of Hillary Clinton becoming our next president is UNTHINKABLE!!

The NRA has endorsed Donald Trump, as stated in their two most recent magazine issues; the November issue contains a special insert which outlines their endorsed candidates for all national and state races. Since we are a "single issue" club, all members are urged to use that as a guide on Election Day.

WE NEED TO SUPPORT THOSE CANDIDATES WHO SUPPORT OUR 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS!!

  • Trump-Pence – President/Vice President

  • Wendy Long –  US Senate

  • Phil Oliva –       US House of Representatives

  • Sue Serino –     NYS Senate (41st District)

  • Greg Purdy –    NYS Assembly (95th District)

  • Kevin Byrne -   NYS Assembly (94th District)

  • James Reitz –  Putnam County Court Judge

Monday, October 3, 2016

As most of you probably know, there is a federal election on November 8th.  This election will be a very important one for several reasons, including the fact that the balance of the U.S. Supreme Court and our Constitutional Rights could be significantly affected.

We, at the Kent Rod & Gun Club, strongly encourage you to exercise your rights as citizens and participate in the election process.

Here are a few things to consider:

If you have not yet done so, please register to vote. We can help get you information on how to get registered.  It’s quick and easy.  Please see the GUNVOTE link below for information and assistance with the Voter Registration process.

Understand the positions of the candidates.  Informed voters make better decisions for their future and the future of their families.

If you are a hunter or a shooter, or someone whose livelihood would be affected by anti-gun legislation, please carefully consider the positions that each candidate has taken on the issues of firearms and firearms ownership.  Those positions could have a significant impact on everyone’s ability to exercise the right to hunt and to participate in the shooting sports.

Please encourage your friends, family members and fellow hunters and shooters to register to vote, to get informed on the issues, and to vote on November 8th.
