Club Update and Season's Greetings!

This past year has been a difficult one, for so many, and our club has remained pro-active with following mandated virus guidelines.  COVID-19 has impacted many club events but, given that, we now look forward to a more positive turn for 2021, for everyone!

Having been a member of the Kent Rod & Gun Club for twenty-two years, I am proud to now take the important role of club president.  In looking back over recent years, there has been a great deal of change and progress in our club, all of which has been orchestrated by our club members.  From driveway repairs and maintenance, the construction of the steps and path to our rear shooting range and more, it has all been part of the teamwork which is such an important part of our organization.  Never about just one person, it’s about the collective brainstorming and participation by members doing their part to keep our club moving forward.

I look forward to working with our dedicated board of directors in 2021; their suggestions and ideas will be an integral part of the refinement and development of our club.

My wishes go out to all club members, families and friends, for a peaceful holiday season and a prosperous and healthy new year.

Summer Club Update

Now that we're halfway through, what has been one year for the books with the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the Kent Rod & Gun Club is looking forward to a return of some normalcy in the weeks and months ahead.

Since March, it's been necessary to cancel club meetings and various events in order to observe all recommended safety guidelines and, of course, to keep our members safe.  Now, with the Hudson Valley moving into Phase 4 of New York's reopening, we anticipate holding club functions under all, state and local, suggested safety protocols.

Through these last months, we've made a significant improvement to our club property with the construction of steps and a pathway to our back shooting range.  This will allow a safe and easier passage for members using that range.

What made this possible was a generous grant from the NRA along with the outstanding efforts of Mike Bartolotti and John Pecora who worked, non-stop, getting all necessary grant paperwork in place.  The stairway design and construction by Kevin Whittaker, the Cassese Clan and... help from several club members along the way, resulted in a job very well done.

Like we always say at the Kent Rod & Gun Club...it's about Teamwork!

On this day...

On this day, we pause.

Even for an hour or a moment of some quiet reflection.

On this day we remember those who gave the very best of who they were…so we could be the very best of who we are.

We pause to treasure their memory and honor their commitment, even to the point of their own lives.

On this day, during this pandemic, as we fight a virus and all of the fears and concerns that go along with it, we remember those who knew the dangers, the fear and the cost of freedom.

They are forever in our hearts.  Forever young, forever loved and forever honored.

On Memorial Day, we pause to remember that we walked in the company of heroes.

And we honor them, by keeping our fallen soldiers, our servicemen and women, and their families, in our hearts and prayers.

Stay Safe!!

With the number of affected individuals rising here in Putnam County, we urge our club members, their families and friends to to everything possible with observing the social distancing guidelines during this COVID-19 pandemic.

As such, our club has temporarily suspended regular membership meetings and upcoming work events until such time that everyone can move freely, and safely, once again.

We will do our best to keep club members advised on all that is important and urge our members to not hesitate in reaching out to our club for assistance during this pandemic.  Whenever, wherever, possible, if a club member becomes quarantined and needs food or other basic necessities...we are here to help.  Items can be safely delivered to your front door.

We keep hearing, and we keep sharing...stay at home, whenever possible, and flatten the curve.  We can do this...we will get through this!

Stay Safe!!

"Let our New Year's resolution be this: we will be there for one another as fellow members of humanity, in the finest sense of the word." -Goran Persson

As we ease into this new year, I look forward to working with all of our club members who are the power source of the Kent Rod & Gun Club.  Together, we can work on the best ideas and solutions that will fortify our continued growth as a club.   Thanks go out to one and all for your support, dedication, and for the extra hours that many of you have worked in order to achieve our goals, helping to complete needed projects.  As we always like to say, this...is what our club is about...teamwork!

On behalf of my fellow Executive Board and Regular Board members, we will continue to keep our club moving in a positive direction.  I wish our members, their families, and friends, a happy and successful 2020!
