September Update!

Summer may be on the way out at the Kent Rod & Gun Club keep rolling-in!

Everyone is looking forward to our Ladies Day at the Range on Sunday, September 17th...we are expecting an outstanding turnout for this "Girls Only" day of fun with an emphasis on education and safety throughout the day!

Our team of Certified Instructors will be ready to assist any of our guests who are preparing to process their New York State Pistol License Application and...for any lady needing assistance with a license amendment or wanting to upgrade their existing license...we will be ready to help!

The day will begin with a Welcome Breakfast, Safety Lectures, a visit from Judge James Reitz, who will address our guests, and then...a Gourmet Luncheon!  Right after, the girls will head outside for some range time and enjoy target shooting, archery and trap shooting...all under the watchful eyes of our Instructors.  And after that...dessert!  We treat our guests very well!

The best part?  Everything is completely...complimentary!

**Once again, we offer apologies to several ladies who were misled by an unauthorized, and erroneous, mention of this event on Lohud, the website of The Journal News.  Our event Chairwoman has reached out to each lady who attempted to register after the deadline and extended every courtesy so that they will be included in our September gathering.

It is not now, and never will be, the practice of our club to have any of our club events promoted by the Gannett Newspaper chain who, in recent times, sought to publicly map the personal data of legally registered gun owners in New York State in their publications.**

Registration for our Annual Big Buck Contest is underway!  Members wishing to compete must sign-up, in person, at our monthly membership meetings.

Please note:
  • This contest is for Members Only!

Welcome January!

After a controversial, jam-packed of a whirlwind past year, we are all looking forward to much positive change on all levels, especially in the government of our country.

Here at the Kent Rod & Gun Club, we have been fortunate to look back on a productive year where members enjoyed club facilities, especially several social events that were well-attended. We thank all of our members, families and friends, who participated and lent their support...great teamwork!

Our first big event of 2017 is our Officer's Installation Dinner on Saturday, January 28th. Seating will be limited and the reservations have been flowing-in.   Since we've been holding this dinner at our clubhouse, the response has been outstanding!  Gino's Trattoria of Mahopac handles the catering and, as with all club events, there is no shortage of terrific food!  The deadline for ALL reservations is January 21st or...when we have reached maximum seating! Send us an email get your reservations in now!

We're looking forward to announcing the winners of our Annual Big Buck Contest at our February meeting.  Several of our hunter's signed-up for the competition and we've seen some impressive racks brought in for scoring.

Everyone has been advised on the re-certification process for all pistol licenses by our Putnam County Clerk's Office and it's important that we continue to share this information from that office:

Please be advised that the New York State Police mailed an important notice to all Pistol Permit holders whose permit was issued prior to January 15, 2013.

Please read and follow the instructions regarding this re-certification.  Please keep in mind that, as per the SAFE Act, you MUST re-certify to the New York State Police PRIOR to January 31, 2018.

Please follow the link below to re-certify online; download the hard copy form and access some frequently asked questions.

Again, we wish everyone a Happy, Prosperous, Healthy 2017!!
