Season's Greetings

2013 has been a very productive year for our club as we celebrated our 65th year of being an integral part of both the sportsmen's community and Putnam County.  Several projects were completed thanks to the efforts of many members, some who went above and beyond to always lend a helping hand when needed.  The same goes for those who make every effort to come out and support club events.  Participation is what keeps the Kent Rod and Gun Club moving forward and I thank everyone involved for their support.

Our first General Membership Meeting of 2014 will be on Friday, January 3rd at 8 p.m.; as usual, Jim Chenevey will be at the club early to update photos for member ID's and Red Mastrobuono will be scoring racks from all registered members for our Big Buck Contest....winners will be announced, prizes awarded at our February meeting.

Please take a look at our 2014 Calendar of Events here on the club's website; there have been a few updates and copies will be available at our meetings.

As another year draws to a close, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish the members, families and friends of the Kent Rod and Gun Club, a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

Kevin McGuinness, President

Project ChildSafe

A few simple words of great importance regarding gun responsibility.....

Own it?  Respect it. Secure it.

The Kent Rod & Gun Club has partnered with the NSSF's Project ChildSafe in order to spread the word that our organization, made up of proud gun owners,  feels it is our responsibility in helping to prevent accidents by keeping our firearms out of the hands of children and at-risk individuals.

Here in our community, the Kent Police Department, a PCS partner, have firearm safety kits which include a cable-style gun lock; these are provided as a community service at no charge.

There are simple precautions every gun owner can take to prevent accidents,
like safe handling and safe storage practices.

Go to Project ChildSafe and take the pledge...
commit, as we have, to practicing gun safety today.

A Day for the Ladies!

It has been a special year for the Kent Rod & Gun Club as we celebrate 65 years of being part of the Putnam County community.  In addition to our regularly scheduled club events, we were proud to feature, for the first-time,  a Ladies Day at the Range on Sunday, September 15th, prouder still that it was a huge success!

Thanks to the teamwork from club members, all who attended enjoyed a great day of sporting activities and...a fabulous luncheon.    Support, in the way of brochures, catalogs and more, from Kimber, Glock, Ruger, Springfield Armory, Smith & Wesson and  Designer Concealed Carry Handbags helped to send each lady home with a gift bag full of goodies.

The ladies excelled in each phase of the day's activities which included target shooting, skeet and some impressive archery thanks to Flying Arrow Sports who generously provided Bows for the event.

Taking some time out from their hectic schedules to join us were Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell, Kent Town Supervisor Kathy Doherty, Former Congresswoman Nan Hayworth (who is running again), Kent Town Council Candidate Janis Bolbrock and Putnam County Sheriff Don Smith.

It was a very good day and we look forward to doing it again, next year!

The clubhouse was all decked-out for the event!
