Club Update

February has been an active month in wake of the recent changes to the gun laws here in New York State.

Ulster County, NY has drafted a resolution, stating that they will not enforce the NYS SAFE Act; an e-mail was sent out to club members with this resolution

Rich Othmer, Chairman of our Putnam County Legislature, sponsored and passed a resolution last Wednesday night which was sent to Albany opposing the new gun law.  Rich stated that he opposed it for 2nd Amendment reasons; it also brings with it several UN-funded mandates from our State Government. He also stated that the new law will financially affect the NYS county government budgets since Putnam County is the administrating agency. At this time, there is no need for individual towns to do the same. Rich Othmer has been working on this with the DA, Putnam County Executive, Clerk & Attorney and club member, Rob Firriolo, has also been guiding our county officials for the past several weeks.  Rich Othmer's letter was also sent out in an e-mail.

Several club members attended the Gun Rights Rally Day in Albany on February 12th; the estimated number of gun rights advocates ranged from "several hundred" to approximately two thousand.

Going forward, the law-abiding gun community has to do better than this and the next opportunity to make ourselves heard will be on.... Thursday, February 28th, “Unite for Our Rights Day” in Albany.

Club members are asked to make every effort and attend this event; support each other, support the cause, support the efforts of those who are challenging Cuomo's gun laws on our behalf!

Now that The Journal News wisely backed down and removed gun owner data from their website, the FOIL exemption form has been made available to license holders wishing to have their personal information kept private.  The links are attached to download both the form and instructions.
