Summer Update

Summer is here and the heat is definitely on!  Our club has a few events coming up in July and August......

  • General Membership Meeting will be next Friday, July 11th at 8 p.m.  There will be some important topics of discussion and all members are urged to attend.

  • Summer Clean-up - Sunday, July 20th @ 9 a.m.  Lots to do...bring along whatever tools, etc. to help keep our club in shape.  More details on work needed will be discussed at our meeting.  Keep in mind that everyone working must sign-in no later than 10 a.m. and must sign-out when done in order for us to properly record your work time.  Light Breakfast and Lunch will be served, as usual!

  • Family BBQ -  Saturday, August 2nd.  If you haven't already done so, get those reservations in to Red Mastrobuono BEFORE July 19th!  Donations for our raffle table at the BBQ are needed so, please, bring along a gift, or two, to our membership meeting next week.  And....any club member who would like to take part in the KR&G Food Throwdown is encouraged to join the fun with Chuck and Patty who are our yearly competitors.  This years challenge is BBQ Ribs.  Cook them at home and bring them along to the competition to win a trophy and bragging rights for the year ahead!  Members who need to get work hours in can sign-up with Red to lend help at our BBQ.

Please take a few moments over this long week-end to call your Senators regarding the Bipartisan Sportsmen's Act...details are below.....

Reach Out to Your Senators During the July 4th Recess,
Urge Them to Co-sponsor the Bipartisan Sportsmen's Act

Senators have arrived home for July 4th recess and will be spending the next week in their states. All firearm owners, hunters, target shooters, and outdoor trade business owners should call or email your senators and urge them co-sponsor the Bipartisan Sportsmen's Act, S. 2363, the most important package of measures for the benefit of sportsmen in a generation.

We must keep up the momentum. NSSF expects that the U.S. Senate will have an initial vote to move forward with S. 2363 soon after Senators return from the July 4th recess.

We cannot let anti-hunting activists defeat S.2363!  Act now and call your senators at 202-224-3121 and urge them to co-sponsor the Bipartisan Sportsmen's Act of 2014! You can also send emails to your senators. If possible, find out the location of your senators' in-state offices from their websites and reach out to those offices during this recess. It will make an impression!

Among other things, this historic legislation will prevent anti-hunting groups from restricting hunters' ammunition choices; provide state fish & game agencies with more flexibility to use Pittman-Robertson funds to build and maintain badly needed public shooting rangers; and help facilitate and provide for more access to Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service lands and waters for hunting, recreational fishing and shooting.

An impressive list of 45 Senators are already co-sponsors. If yours are not co-sponsors, ask them to sign on. If they are already onboard, then thank them for their leadership.

Act now and call your senators at 202-224-3121. Send emails to your senators.
